Parish Finance Council In accordance with Achdiocesan statutes, the Finance Council is appointed to: Assist the parish priest in a consultative role in the administration of the parish; Provide a forum for the discussion of issues concerning financial and related matters; Provide effective communication between parishioners and the parish priest in financial and related matters.
The parish priest and deacon are ex-officio members of the Council. Other members are those appointed by the parish priest or co-opted by the Council. At St. Michael's, the Council meets quarterly and has allocated portfolios to its members covering: Planned Giving, Staff, Property & Capital Expenditure and Accounts. The Council seeks to achieve the purpose of communication with parishioners by publishing quarterly as well as annual reports and inviting feedback. Periodically, and at least every two years, a general meeting of parishioners is held to discuss financial matters and budgets.
Planned Giving The backbone of the Parish finances is the Planned Giving programme. The planned and regular contributions of parishioners are effectively the only way the parish can continue a vibrant offering of a variety or spiritual, pastoral and outreach programs. Parishioners contribute voluntarily on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis according to their individual circumstances. New Parishioners are earnestly requested to give serious thought to joining the campaign. Payments are requested by bank transfers, wherever possible. For more information, please contact the presbytery on a Tuesday or a Thursday.
